TL;DR

In episode four, we sat down with Yoon, Co-Founder of Elysia, to discuss how they’ve tokenized over $20M in real estate, the mechanics of fractionalized RWA issuance, investor protection, the role of the Elysia DAO, and their plans for bringing new RWA products to the XRP Ledger.

Episode Summary

On this episode of Strobe Ignite, BD Lead George spoke with Yoon of Elysia to explore how real-world assets are coming to life on-chain through tokenization:

Journey into RWAs

Yoon entered crypto in 2017 as a product manager for an L1 focused on interoperability before founding Elysia in 2018. Driven by an interest in real-world use cases, he helped position Elysia as one of Korea’s leading RWA protocols.

What Elysia Does

Elysia is a licensed token issuer and distributor in South Korea, with operations extending globally. To date, they’ve tokenized 170+ assets, mostly real estate, with $20M AUM now deployed, and recently expanded onto the XRP Ledger.

How Tokenization Works

From sourcing property owners to DAO voting and collateral validation, Yoon walked us through the lifecycle of an RWA:

  • Property owners collateralize their assets
  • Elysia DAO reviews and approves issuance proposals
  • Tokens are created, fractionalized, and distributed via order-book style tranches
  • Investors deposit stablecoins, earn interest, and redeem after loan obligations are met

“The DAO’s role is critical. No RWA can move forward without the approval of EL token holders.” — Yoon [12:01]

Safeguarding Investors

Investor protection is a central pillar for Elysia. Offline integrity checks, legal enforcement in case of defaults, and stringent security audits of both contracts and assets ensure investor capital is protected.

DAO Governance & EL Token Utility

EL tokens power governance and participation. EL holders vote on asset approval and issuance, while EL tokens serve as the governance backbone, available on multiple exchanges. Elysia has also built community engagement through creative campaigns, including awarding real estate property as a prize in an EL trading competition.

Upcoming Roadmap

Elysia is aiming to launch a new RWA product on XRPL in mid-September, accessible to whitelisted investors globally. Yoon noted that compliance requirements like KYC/AML are now standard, with whitelisting linked directly to user wallets for ongoing participation.

Advice for Builders

Yoon closed with advice for those entering the crypto and RWA space:

“My advice is to keep pushing and stick around. If you’re here long enough, you’ll see the changes you’re making, not just in crypto, but in the real world. Lay the foundation brick by brick, and eventually you’ll have the house… and then you can tokenize it.” — Yoon [20:18]
